It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Dennis Robert Gairns on July 6, 2024, at the St. Catharines General Hospital, in his 83rd year.
Beloved husband to Stephanie Ann (Shallip) for 61 years. Cherished father to Greg and Kim (James) Burton.
Loving grandfather (Papa) to Meaghan and Tyler. Brother to Nelda (the late Dave) Walker, Loretta Cyopick, Mavis Cloutier, Janice (Larry) Torzsas, Alice (Larry) Breeze and Wendi (Nelson) Lindsey. Brother-in-Law to Teddy Shallip, Linda Hyatt, and the late Judy Ewart. Dennis will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his parents Robert and Alice (Jothen) Gairns and brother Glen Gairns.
Dennis was born on Dec. 26, 1940, in Welland Ontario. Through his lifetime he enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and spent many hours working on and polishing his truck. Dennis also enjoyed many camping trips with family and made many cherished memories with his grandchildren. Dennis was a retired electrician, and was a member of local 303.
Cremation has taken place and interment will take place at Victoria Lawn Cemetery St. Catharines at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations in Dennis’s memory can be made to Walker family cancer centre.
