In the late afternoon on Saturday February 3, 2024 our mom, Delores Degauque of New Waterford passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.
Mom was born in New Waterford on April 6, 1943 to the late Martin and Helen (Donovan) McPherson. She then became the loving wife of the late Joseph Degauque and together they raised 3 daughters.
Mom worked for 17 1/2 years for the Cape Breton District School Board until her retirement. She then spent all of her time enjoying her grandchildren and great grandchildren which were her pride and joy.
Mom is survived by her 3 daughters, Sherry (Mike) Carrigan, Daphne (Brian Marks) Barrie, all of New Waterford and Corrie (Russell) Clarke of Alberta.
She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, Amanda, Jeff, Samantha, Ryan and Lacey and 8 great grandchildren, Brody, Cole, Dylan, Ayden, Jaxon, Sloan, Brecken and Henry.
She is survived by sisters, Florence, Beverly, Beatrice, Linda, Susie and brother, Lorne.
Mom was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years, Joseph Degauque, sisters, Agnes, Lorraine, Jessie, Sharon, her brother, Martin, special friends, Mike and Louise Taylor, Kaye McKenzie and her special Aunt Mary.
A special thank you to the VON, Palliative Care, Dr. Brown, Dr. Azar and V. J. McGillvray Funeral Home for their kindness and compassion shown to mom and us.
As per her wishes, there will be no visitation or service, cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral, New Waterford. Private internment will take place in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
