Debra’s Obituary
It is with profound sadness that the family of Debra Lee St. Amand (nee Bates) announces her peaceful passing, at home on February 7, 2023, surrounded by her loving family and fur babies. Deb was predeceased by her beautiful mother, Sandra Bates and is survived by her loving father John. She will be lovingly remembered and forever cherished by her devoted husband, Tony Recine, daughters, Jamie (Danny) and Kirby (Shane), with Deb’s first grandchild due this month. Remembered always by her brother, John Bates (Sandy), mother-in-law, Lucy Recine (Antonio; predeceased), brother-in-law, John Recine, and many nieces and nephews.
Deb will be dearly missed by her friends, daughters’ friends, co-workers and “horse gals.” Deb was known for her kindness, compassion, and warm and caring nature. She was small but mighty, with the biggest heart. She always had your back and was ready to kick butt when you needed her. Her strength and courage was immeasurable.
Deb loved her job as a school bus driver, which she began after moving to the country in 2016. She also loved her animals and often donated funds to different animal rescues. Deb had a passion for horseback riding on the trails, especially with her “heart horse,” Honor, who sadly passed away in 2021. More than anything, Deb loved her family and the life they created together on their hobby farm, which she named, “Maple Haven Farm.”
Deb was the most amazing wife and partner to Tony and proud and nurturing mother to Jamie and Kirby. She offered the best advice and encouragement. She was thoughtful and giving, and beautiful inside and out. Her bright blue eyes and big infectious smile will be etched in our memories forever. Deb touched the lives of so many people and was truly the most special soul.
Friends will be received at the DWAYNE D. BUDGELL Funeral Home, 1105 Rest Acres Road, on Friday from 2 – 4 pm & 7 – 9pm. A Memorial Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 10:30am. A reception will follow at the Bethel Community Hall, 154 Bethel Road, Paris, ON. In Deb’s honour, memorial donations to the Brant County SPCA (www.brantcountyspca.com/) or an animal sanctuary of your choice would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
