Deborah Anne «Debby» Dennis
1952-2023
Deborah Anne Dennis
June 30, 1952 – November 25, 2023
It is with extreme sadness that the family of Deborah (Debby) Anne
Dennis (nee Cook), announces her peaceful passing on November 25, 2023
at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg, at the age of 71,
with the utmost of love filled within her heart.
Mom lived a simple life with the smallest gestures making her happy.
She held various jobs over the years dating back to the 70’s
with Paceship Yachts in Mahone Bay. She taught us the meaning of
determination and ambition when at the age of 38 she decided to finish
her schooling by getting her grade 12 GED with top marks. She was so
smart with the neatest writing. She then went on to Vocational
School, sitting on the bus with daughter Michelle, and completing her
Clerk Typist course. When she decided that her working career was
completed, she thoroughly enjoyed her time at home fussing over her
family & dogs but especially enjoyed the shopping road trips with
her best friends, Shelley & Rosalie ( and occasionally Marlene ).
And let’s not forget the daily phone chats with them as well.
Her lifelong friendship bond with them carried with her straight
through to the end. She loved them dearly, as they did her.
Coronation Street…nobody was allowed to call her when it was on the
TV. She even had Tommy occasionally watching it with her as he tried
to understand their accents. And, her beloved Judge Judy program.
She watched all of the game shows as she was such a whiz with all of
the correct answers. Mom loved Christmas and re-decorating her home
with everything matching the new curtains. Until arthritis prevented
her from sewing in her later years, she loved to sew dresses, knitted
sweaters and created Halloween costumes for us all and then later on
when 1st grandchild Brooke arrived in 1995.
Mom was like her mother, Vera, and loved the company of a good card
game and also frequented all of the Bingo Halls over the years with
her as well. But her greatest company was when her grandchildren
would stay overnight with her. She loved them all so very much.
Debby is survived by father, Peter; daughters, Michelle and Tanya
(Marc); son, Dana (Rebecca); special daughter, Kim (Tara);
Debby’s husband, Tommy; granddaughter, Brooke (Luke); grandsons,
Nolan & Corson; granddogs, Willow & Ella; step-children, Ryan
(Cassie), Kayla; grandchildren, Maylin, Paisley, Sadie; nieces, Dawn
& April; nephew, Dwight and many cousins & friends.
Debby was pre-deceased by partner, Donald; mother, Vera and brother,
Allan (Carla).
Mom, even though it was extremely hard for us to experience your
transition to your next journey, we all know that Nanny is once again
taking care of you with Uncle Alan, providing the humour around your
card table while eating your famous chocolate chip cookies. We love
you all.
Special thank you for all of your compassion and guidance to the
family, Dr. Cecilia Newton, Dr. Harris , Palliative Care and
Vistorian Ordrr of Nurses home visits. And especially the Medical
Department Staff for making Mom feel so special when she needed it the
most. Also to Mom’s daughter-in-law, Rebecca, who was her
personal nurse every step of the way for the past 2 years and a
comfort to us all.
On Saturday, December 16, 2023, there will be a committal service at
Hillside Cemetery in Clearland for immediate family. A Celebration of
life Ceremony will be held at 12:00 pm at Western Shore Legion Harding
