Debbie Christine Vendramin, 69 years
(February 2, 1955 – July 16, 2024)
It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our loving wife, mother, sister and nana, Debbie Vendramin (nee Mullola), on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024, secure in the arms of her husband Brian, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Beloved wife and best friend of nearly 55 years to Brian. Proud and loving mother of Mark, Stacey (Jarrod) and Hailey (Carter) and the most incredible Nana to Ellie and Iris. Reunited with her loving parents, Leo Mullola (pre-deceased) and Phyllis Keskinen (stepfather, Arvo) (both pre-deceased). Debbie is deeply loved and remembered by her siblings David Mullola (Celine), Linda Mullola (Dan), Carl Mullola (predeceased) (Bonnie Lynch), Elizabeth Wendler (Rod) and Muriel Wissell (Michael). Beloved daughter in law to Lino and Flora (pre-deceased) Vendramin and sister-in-law to Bruce (Joanne), Jaymie (Sherry) and Craig. Debbie’s warmth and laughter will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A proud Finlander, Debbie grew up and lived on Long Lake for the majority of her life. She loved her blueberries freshly picked, her saunas extra hot and her coffee black and strong.
Her love story with Brian started with a bang (literally!) when she crashed into him at the bottom of Nordic ski hill. Once she finessed her ski skills, Brian and Debbie went on to run a ski school, successfully teaching countless others how to ski. Debbie always said that if she won the lottery, she would reopen Nordic hill as it held such precious memories. Her love for the outdoors extended beyond the ski hill, beginning many summer mornings with Brian kayaking and canoeing on Long Lake and walking and cross-country skiing in the winter. At 50, Debbie took up running, completing many half marathons, and enjoying countless post-run coffees with her dearest friends. An avid gardener, if Debbie wasn’t in her garden or tending to her houseplants, she could be found reading about plants or giving much needed gardening advice to her kids. Each summer the backyard transformed into a mini oasis, filled with the sights, and sounds of various birds as Deb showed off her latest contraption on how to keep the squirrels out of her bird feeders.
Debbie worked for many years as a legal assistant at Sinclair and Sinclair Law Office (formerly Hinds and Sinclair), forming strong friendships with her bosses, co-workers, and clients alike. Debbie was strong in her faith and attended mass faithfully at St. Patrick’s Parish, where she was also an active member of the CWL. A true light in Debbie’s life were her grand-daughters, Ellie, and Iris. She spent countless hours singing, baking, playing with, and doting on them. When not with the girls, Debbie and Brian would spend their time looking at pictures, watching videos and re-enacting all the hilarious interactions from the previous visit or FaceTime.
Debbie made everyone she met feel welcome and heard and will be missed deeply by many friends. The void she has left is tremendous, but her kindness, wisdom and laughter will continue to guide all of us as we heal.
Debbie exemplified SISU, especially in the last couple of years as she battled fiercely. The family would like to thank her oncologist, Dr. Bonilla for the incredible care, compassion and guidance that was provided over the last 2.5 years. Thank you as well to Dr. Larsen for the care and calm in the hospital and to the many nurses and PSWs at the Cancer Centre and on the oncology floor for their love, warmth, and exceptional care. A heartfelt thank you to Father Raymond Akor for the spiritual guidance and support throughout Debbie’s cancer journey.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Inner-City Home of Sudbury, a cause close to Debbie’s heart.
Resting at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury. Friends may gather on Monday, July 22nd 2024 from 4:00-8:00 pm. Funeral Mass at St. Patrick’s Parish, 39 Walford Rd., Sudbury on Tuesday, July 23rd 2024 at 10:30 am. Reception to follow at the Caruso Club, 385 Haig St., Sudbury.
Lord,
Our dear loved one is gone now from this earthly dwelling, and has left behind those who mourn her absence. Grant that we may hold Debbie’s memory dear, never bitter for what we have lost, nor in regret for the past,
but always in hope of the eternal Kingdom
where you will bring us together again.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
