Obituary
Dawn passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family and friends at Chapman House Hospice in Owen Sound, on Friday, January 20, 2023. Born on December 17, 1965 in Owen Sound, Dawn Marie Byers (née Crandon) of Owen Sound, was in her 58th year.
Dearly loved wife and best friend of the late Stephen Byers. Cherished daughter of the late Lorne Crandon and the late Dorothy Crandon-Weppler. Loving sister of Wendy Minard, of Owen Sound, Cheryl Henry (Larry), of Francis Lake, Pam Crandon, also of Owen Sound and sister-in-law of Susan Elliott (late Jerry), Shannon Shaw (Greg) and Marc Byers (Victoria), all of Owen Sound. Dawn will be sadly missed by her aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and dear friends. Predeceased by her parents-in-law, Mervyn and Betty Byers and her brothers-in-law, Jeff and Mike Byers.
Steve and Dawn’s love for each other sailed them off for adventures to beautiful Manitoulin Island. This became a second home for them along with their canine companions. The love of small community, peace and tranquility was second to none. Steve and Dawn have now reunited forever. The family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who was involved in Dawn’s hard-fought journey. Your care and compassion is greatly appreciated.
As per Dawn’s wishes, there will not be any service. Interment in Leith Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th Street West, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Lion’s Club of Canada – for Service Dogs, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Chapman House Hospice would be appreciated.
