Obituary of David John Thompson
David John Thompson, known to friends and family as Dave, passed away on September 9, 2024 at the age of 63. He is survived by his children Laura Giles (Aaron) and Blair (Katelyn), grandchildren Ella and Tessa, mother Vicki, sister Joanne Osmond (Barry), partner Debbie Legere, nephew Cory (Karen), and many other nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father Jack and sister Susan.
Dave was born in Guelph and was an active community member and volunteer. He spent over 25 years volunteering with the Guelph Community Santa Claus Parade, including being the chairman for several years. He was proud to coach his children’s house league softball and baseball teams. Throughout his life, Dave was known for his charismatic, fun-loving personality. He was a big fan of Disney, animation, and theme parks, passions that he shared with his children as they grew up.
Cremation has taken place per Dave’s wishes and a private celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Dave’s family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at The Village of Riverside Glen in Guelph, the Cambridge Memorial Hospital, and St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.
