David Wallace Barron Obituary
David Wallace Barron
December 17th 1932-
June 5th 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. David passed away peacefully at 91 years of age with his family by his side in Okotoks Alberta. David was born and raised in Vancouver British Columbia. He attended Lord Bing High School where he excelled in academics and all sport. After graduation it was his passion to become a commercial Pilot. He succeeded in attaining his commercial license. It was during this time that he was introduced to his future wife, Patricia Louise Kennedy. They were married in Vancouver at St. Helens Anglican church in 1957.He later went on to study and earn his degree in Agriculture soil sciences at The University of British Columbia. While earning his degree David and Patricia welcomed three children into their family. After graduation he accepted a new job position that would relocate his family to Calgary, Alberta. During his time in Calgary, aside from being a very supportive husband and father David was involved in the Oil and Gas Industry. A huge passion was gardening and he spent many hours designing ,landscaping and manicuring the family property. Every summer was spent returning to his roots on the West Coast sharing all his favorite spots with his young family. Gabriola Island was where many fond summer memories were created, fishing and swimming, surrounded by family and friends. It was such a joy for his family to take David and Patricia on a trip down memory lane almost 7 years ago, reliving all the favorite spots that they lived and loved. So grateful we could share this time together. Of all his favorite pastimes, Golf was number one!! His membership at Willow Park GCC introduced him to many new friendships and was truly where his love of the sport shone. David’s retirement years found he and Patricia moving one more time above Cottonwood Golf course. These were joyful years being so close to the course and again developing many new friendships. In the past few years David’s biggest joy was spending time with his great-grandchildren. Poppy as he was known was always grinning ear to ear when they entered the room.
David leaves to mourn his wife of 67 years Patricia. His children Kelly Bailie(Stephen) Scott Barron, Christopher Barron(Megan).Grandchildren Kaitlynn MacDougall(Brendan), Maxwell Barron(Lauren) Georgia Barron(Amanda).Great-grandchildren Lachlan David MacDougall, Sterling MacDougall, Stella MacDougall. Sister Joan Lammers and brother Brian Barron(Kelly). Nieces Nancy Girling, Tracy Goyer, Mallory de Rooy.
The past three years he has been a resident of Tudor Manor in Okotoks. The exceptional care, respect and kindness he was shown was a blessing for him and his family and we are forever grateful for their support to David and his family.
As per David’s wishes there will not be a formal funeral service. The family will be gathering later this summer in a celebration of his life. A life well lived.
