It is with deep sadness that we announce that David Rudie passed away peacefully in Montreal on October 7, 2023, at the age of one hundred and one, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of Dolly for sixty-one years. Cherished father and father-in-law of Karen, Stephen and Pamela. Doting grandfather of Ethan, Jason, and Brandon. Predeceased by his parents, Lena and Max, and his sisters Helen and Raye. David will be missed by his family, friends, and all those who knew him.
David was a successful furniture manufacturer, avid reader, and tennis player. He was always seen with a smile on his face, and he adored his family and friends. Heartfelt gratitude to the caring, hardworking staff of the Jewish Eldercare, and the fabulous personal care of Ghuy, Willie, Rudy and Skye.
Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Monday, October 9 at 1:00 p.m. Burial at the Canadian Hebrew Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at his son’s home, Monday following burial until 4:00 p.m., and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. daily, and Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Contributions in David’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, (514) 871-1551 or www.heartandstroke.ca/monthly-donations.
