It is with great sadness that the family announces that Dave began his spirit journey on June 19th, 2024, from Toronto, Ontario.
Dear son of the late Onezime and Mary (nee Corbiere) Recollet. Loving father of David Recollet Jr. of Birch Island, Payton, Katelyn, and Phoenix. Beloved grandfather of Adam, Avery, Emerald, and Ezra. Cherished brother of John (Elaine), Doreen Jacko (late Russell), Helen Bolduc (George), Barbara (Edward), Georgina (Dennis) and Joseph (Debbie), all from Birch Island. Predeceased by Charlotte, Josette, Charles, Andrew, Nora (Jim Megwanabe), Theresa (John Rutledge), and Michael. Dave will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Dave was a kind-hearted and humble man. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed socializing, fishing, and he was a great story teller. His most famous quotes were: “Live Life, Taste Death!” “Hello, Sherwood Forest, Word bird Speaking!” and “Story Up!”
Dave was the founder of the «Native Wishing Well” at Trinity square in Toronto, they provide 24/7 crisis remediation. Some of his legends were: He was paramedic, and a Fly-in first responder in Northern Indigenous communities, he was professional wrestler, bush pilot, and he was a Hereditary Chief for Whitefish River First Nation.
Visitation will take place June 24th, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at the Birch Island Community Centre, and a Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, June 26th, 2024 at 11 AM with interment to follow in the New Birch Island Cemetery.
