David Alan Norris
September 14, 1954 – June 16, 2024
Passed at home with his daughter by his side, on Father’s Day, Sunday June 16th, 2024.
A loving husband and father who always went above and beyond for his family and friends. His appreciation for words and language, along with his impeccable timing, gave him a great sense of humour. His passions for music and cooking filled his home with wonderful food, songs, and laughter. He shared stories, provided guidance and support, and delved into intellectual conversations with ease. An incredible man, known for his strength and resilience.
Born in St. Catharines, he grew up in the Toronto area. Dave worked as a highly skilled television director, producer, and floor manager for many years at CTV, Alliance Atlantis, and Global TV, among others. He made a lot of friends in what he called “TV Land”. He enjoyed being a part of the community in Clearview and was a member of the Creemore Council when the Townships amalgamated. Finding camaraderie as a member of the Avening Hall Board, he shared a lot of good times with a lot of good people. Avening will always be a special place for his family. He and his wife owned Cashtown Corners Restaurant, and locals still remember his delicious famous burgers. Afterwards Dave ran the Creemore Star Newspaper, ensuring community voices were heard. Witty and knowledgeable, his creative talents allowed him to be innovative and break boundaries.
Our giant will be missed by his wife and partner of 53 years Elizabeth Norris, his daughter Monica Norris, his sister Kathy Kaufman (Eric), and his brother Tim Norris (Patti). Along with numerous sisters and brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews who adored him. He is predeceased by his mother Betty and father Harold Norris.
A service of remembrance will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday July 18th, 2024 at Fawcett Funeral Home – Creemore Chapel with a reception to follow at the Creemore Legion. In lieu of flowers please give donations to the Avening Community Centre, Creemore Union Cemetery, or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
