It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Sowinski on July 27th, 2023, at the age of 69. David is survived by his former wife Teresa Pakvis Sowinski and their sons Simon and Austin Sowinski. He will be dearly missed by his brothers and sisters Tony, Maryann Edgar (John), Frank, Pat Cruickshank (George), Al (Sue), Theresa Hicks, Ron (Pat), Leonard and Doreen and by many nieces and nephews. David is predeceased by his parents Paul and Florence (Kuiack) Sowinski.
David was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 530, Sarnia, Ontario. He was also a certified journeyman in Heating and Cooling, Refrigeration and Gas Fitter. David was very much mechanically gifted. He loved to take things apart just to see how they worked, from big things like a car engine to small things like Maryann’s toy rooster, when they were just kids. David never let go of his faith in God. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Monday, August 14, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church (where David acted as a Eucharistic Minister), 390 Christina St N., Sarnia, on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Inn of the Good Shepherd or St. Vincent de Paul (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
