February 26, 1953 – October 11, 2024
Surrounded by loved ones, Dave Jankowski passed away on October 11, 2024. He was a loving father to Heather and Emma Jankowski (Alberto), doting grandpa to Eva and Rio, a “just ok” brother to Sandy (Penny), Steve and Paul Jankowski and caring uncle to Tom, Nichole, Rhea, Adrian, Katie and Ellen Jankowski. Dave was predeceased by his mother and father, Eileen Harding and F. Henry Jankowski, dear sister, Mary Ellen White and beloved wife, Elly Pozsonyi.
Born and raised in London, Ontario, Dave was an avid sports fan who would have made the best addition to any sports trivia team. He was funny, quick-witted and a teller of many repetitive jokes, much to his daughters’ loving annoyance. His sense of humour did not extend to tardiness as he always insisted on arriving 20 minutes early, regardless of the occasion. Dave was welcoming, generous and always thinking of others. You wouldn’t have the chance to take off your shoes before Dave offered you a cup of coffee or whatever he had just whipped up in the kitchen. Deemed “best snack maker” by his five and a half year old granddaughter, Eva, with whom he spent afternoons after school, Dave’s culinary repertoire extended beyond just snacks and included some of the best chicken wings around, wild rice casserole and anything he could barbecue. A heartfelt thank you to the 2L surgery and ICU teams at St Joseph’s Hospital, especially Yulia, Michael, Savi and Kesiena, for their dedicated and exceptional care.
