David Earl Solomon – of Knoxville was born on April 28, 1936 and passed away on November 19, 2023. Lovingly referred to as “Dink” by those who knew him, he left us Sunday to find the fast lane in the sky. He was a lover of many things; fast cars, chewing tobacco, Mountain Dew, candy, and cuss words, but it was his family that he loved best. He loved us with an honest and open heart and an infectious laugh. He never met a stranger and gathered an ever-growing list of friends throughout his long life.
He was a dedicated husband for 67 years and leaves behind the love of his life, Julia Solomon, whose love he couldn’t bear to live without. He’s joined his loving parents, Earl and Annie Solomon, whose loss he felt still. The reunion he is sure to be celebrating most though is with his beloved son and best friend, David Lloyd Solomon, who left us all too soon.
Survived by Vickie Elam and Tod Elam, Kristi Solomon-Reeder and best buddy Nat Reeder, Kaelin Elam and Ashley Moss, Devyn Irwin and Zack Irwin, Tanzi Farrow and Aaron Farrow and Briar Farrow, Tammy Solomon Satterfield and Mary Runyon. The family would like to extend a special thank you to, “that girl” (Ashley Howard) whose care and love is a gift that we can never repay; Brian, Megan, Rosemary and Emma who kept a watchful eye when we couldn’t and have so kindly helped whenever we asked; and Becky and Smoky Mountain Hospice for helping us provide comfort and peace.
The family will receive friends 2:00-4:00 PM Friday, November 24, 2023, at Bridges Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 4:00 PM with Pastor Tommy Louthan officiating. The family requests that attendees wear purple for the services if they have it because it was David’s favorite color. Family and friends will gather at 10:45 AM on Saturday at Asbury Cemetery for an 11:00 AM graveside service officiated by Pastor Mike Sledge.
