Obituary
With great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved husband, dad, and grandpa Bruce Currie of Bowsman, MB on November 6th, 2022 at the age of 84.
Bruce was born in Bowsman on September 8th, 1938. He married Darlene Eggleston in the United Church on February 25, 1967 and they resided in Bowsman.
Bruce is survived and sadly missed by his loving wife Darlene, daughter Jackie (James) Bouther, son Barry (Katharine) Currie and son Donnie (Daphne) Currie. Missing their grandpa dearly are granddaughters Kaleigh, MacKenzie, Madisen, and Chloe and grandsons Darion and Ethan. Bruce is predeceased by his son David, a sister and four brothers.
Bruce worked for the village of Bowsman for most of his life. He was an active member of the Lions and proudly served as a volunteer fire fighter.
If you were to stop by dads he would be busy in the yard cutting grass or working in the garden/garage, but if you stopped there with a problem he would stop everything to come and help you. If dad wasn’t home chances were he would be in town with mom to get a can of “sardines.”
Before dad retired, he worked for the village of Bowsman for 36 years. He was a staple in the village and could be seen cutting grass, fixing water breaks, pushing snow, picking up garbage, and making sure the town looked good. Dad was also on the Bowsman Fire Department for 32 years, staying on even after he retired from the village. He would come out to give us a hand when we were short. Unfortunately, dads first call with the fire department was his own house.
After dad retired, he enjoyed being a Bowsman Lion. He liked being out in the community selling tickets for community events or setting up the tent for different family events in the Valley.
It was his wish to be cremated and a Celebration of Life for Bruce will be held at a later date.
