It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, and grandfather Daryl Jarvis Clayton of Kamloops at the age of 82.
Daryl was predeceased by his parents, Evelyn Laura Dickey (Fraser) and Austin Frederick Clayton, step-father Arthur Dickey and step-mother Carol Clayton.
He will be remembered by first wife Shirley; daughter Damara and grandchildren Mia, Ayden, Chloe, Tahira and Bella; daughter Gina (Alistair) and grandchildren Georgia and Esmé. Second wife Mary. Siblings Robert (Maxine), Kathleen (Bill), David (Michelle), Dianne (Bert), Brian (Laura), John (Michelle); step-siblings Dennis, Bette and Karen; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Daryl was born at Grace Hospital, in Vancouver, BC. He lived in Clinton, Williams Lake, the ranch near Eagen Lake, and Kamloops. As a young man, Daryl met his first wife Shirley (Bruzzisi) at the Cedar Cottage United Church. He completed a Bachelor of Education from UBC with one year at the University of Calgary. Daryl and Shirley were married in 1966. They moved to Kamloops and had two daughters. In the beginning of his career, he taught at a one-room schoolhouse in Chezacut. His teaching continued at various Kamloops Elementary schools and Sahali Secondary School. After his first marriage ended, he married again to Mary (Bouwmeester). They spent years at their home in the Westsyde area of Kamloops before separating.
He was a landscape painter and shared his love of art with his children and students. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening and music.
The family would like to thank Dr. Cribb and the staff at The Hamlets at Westsyde for all their care and support. Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
