Darren “Bootsie” Boutilier

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Darren Bruce “Bootsie” Boutilier, age 52, on Monday, June 12, at home.
Born in North Sydney on January 27, 1971, Darren was the son of the late John and Pauline (Stoodley) Boutilier. He worked for many years as a heavy-duty mechanic in Ontario, and recently worked in the same trade in Cape Breton. Darren enjoyed working on cars and home renovations. He also enjoyed hiking and camping and hanging out with the boys at the barn.
Darren is survived by his wife Sharyn Hopkins; step daughter Megan Hackett; brother Gary (Michelle); nephews Sean (Hannah), Bryan (Julia); great-nephew Everett; close friend Noelle Canavan, life-long friend Darren Reid (Maureen) and his many friends and barn crew. He has also left behind two fur babies, Oliver and Monkey, who were papa’s pride and joy.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Chris and step-mother Georgina Boutilier.
Visitation for Darren will be held from 2-3 pm, Saturday, June 17, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Dave Lewis officiating.
