Darlene (“Dene”) passed away on October 18th, 2024, surrounded by family at Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC), after a short battle with cancer. Beloved wife of almost 55 years, to Norm and cherished mother of Laura (Brad Morgan), and the late Christopher (Alison Kamiya) who she is now at peace and reunited with. A proud and loving Grandma, Dene will forever be remembered by her grandchildren, Kendall, Griffin, Avery, and Jackson. Predeceased by her parents, Shirley (Rene) DeVriese and Gordon (Muriel) Ibbitson. Dear sister of John, Jim (Sue Lee) and Dianne Ibbitson and the late Patricia Jarvis (Jim Kirkpatrick) and Laura (Rick) Crawford. Dene will be remembered fondly by her extended family and friends for her warmth and kindness. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Palliative Care staff at PRHC for their compassion and care. To honour Dene’s memory, a celebration of life will be held at the Cavan Monaghan Community Centre – Community Hall at 986 Peterborough County Road 10, Millbrook, ON L0A 1G0, from 1:00 – 3:30 pm on Sunday, November 10th, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Dene to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (www.bloodcancers.ca), or to the PRHC Foundation (www.prhcfoundation.ca).
