Obituary of Daniel Dubeau
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Daniel H. Dubeau, on Friday, October 6, 2023 surrounded by his loving family at the Shawville Hospital at the age of 73. He is survived by his adored wife of 49 years, Denise Ladouceur and his loving daughters Chantal (René) and Julie (Bobby). Proud and cherished Papi to Bianca, Makayla and step-Papi to Jesse (Ellen), Brianna and Jason.
Son of the late Archille Dubeau and the late Viola Dagenais. Cherished brother to Noëlla (Ronald Bertrand), Marie (Doug Foley) and Anne (late André Dumouchel). Predeceased by his sisters Alma (late Gerald Corriveau), Ella (Roger Sr. Arbour) and the late Jimmy Crawford and late Ronald Dubeau. He is survived and missed by many brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts, cousins and close friends.
Dan had a close bond with his daughter Julie, they were often out fishing, sitting outside having a drink, working on something in the garage and going for long drives in the truck for a well needed chat. Chantal and Dan shared a love for horses. He was so proud to see her ride her horse “Prince” at the age of two, at the Otter Lake parade.
He also had a good friendship with his nephew Richard Crawford, who he called multiple times a day and always ended the call with “Keep it between the lines” and his late brother-in-law, Jimmy Crawford and “Monsieur” Jean-Pierre Robert as he’d call him. He also spent a lot of good times with his sister Noëlla, whom he’d refer to as “his guardian Angel”.
Dan enjoyed the great outdoors, from hunting, fishing to spending time in the garden and riding his side-by-side with his beautiful wife Denise. They married on July 6, 1974 and were inseparable throughout all those years.
Dan loved having friends and family gather at the cottage for bbq’s and corn roasts. He loved being in the woods and having a good chat with his Uncle Roy Romain.
He had a passion for heavy equipment and built many logging roads throughout the years in the Pontiac. He took pride in a job well done and loved chatting and laughing with the guys on the job site. He will be greatly missed by many.
To honor Dad’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A burial will take place at a later date with immediate family and close friends. We invite you to privately celebrate, in his memory, in your own ways. We know that he will be with us all in spirit.
