It is with sadness we announce Dan’s peaceful passing at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton on October 9, 2024 in his 70th year. Loving father to Alexander (Nathalie) and Jonathan. Beloved brother to Christine and Teresa. Partner of 20 years to Nancy.
Predeceased by his father William in 1989 and his mother Nina in 2006.
Dan will be remembered for his commitment to those closest to him. He supported and helped wherever he could.
Animals were always a part of his life, from family pets to working with challenging horses that only he could tame. He always said that everything just wants to live.
Dan lived life on his own terms and took many risks because it was fun. In his younger years, he drove his motorcycles much too fast and moved on to flying ultralight aircraft, where he walked away from more than one crash.
Dan loved the family farm and home in Flamborough, which he helped his parents build when he was only 13 years old. He had a keen eye for machinery and could construct and repair anything he got his hands on. He was incredibly smart and a lifelong learner in math, physics, and chemistry.
Please join us in a Celebration of Dan’s life on Sunday, October 27, 2024 from 1-3 p.m. at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown. Food and refreshments will be provided. In accordance with Dan’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service.
In lieu of flowers, please do something kind for someone in need, as Dan would have done.
As Dan always protected those around him and himself, the family would encourage masking at the gathering.
