It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dane Stewart Colligan on July 18, 2024.
Dane was a deeply sensitive and caring person who would do whatever he could to help others. He always cherished time spent with his family and friends. The outpouring of messages describing Dane as helpful, supportive and “always there when you needed him” is truly a testament to who he was – always doing what he could to help others. He was a determined individual since his early years and carried this trait with him into adulthood. He never gave up on anything and would always find strength and resilience even in his most challenging moments.
Dane always had an affinity to fix things, so he turned this natural talent into a career becoming a general contractor. He would ensure each project was done to the highest standard, never cutting corners. A job wasn’t worth doing unless it was done right.
He had a passion for hockey and a newly found talent as a competitive axe thrower. Both these communities embraced Dane with loving arms and provided him with a sense of belonging, purpose and unwavering support. Our family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to both these communities for that.
Dane is survived by his grandmother Ena Shaw, father Roderick Colligan, sisters Samantha Colligan and Amanda Chevrier, brother Ryan Colligan and his uncle Scott Colligan.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, August 5th between 2pm – 5pm at 66 Falby Court, Ajax, Ontario in the community room, where friends and family will gather to celebrate his life and legacy. Dane touched so many lives in so many ways and his legacy will live on through the strength and perseverance he showed us every day – to never give up.
