June 18, 1942 – March 31, 2023
Dalton C. Shipway, the Great Don Ranger, passed away peacefully March 31, 2023 after complications from surgery.
Sadly, missed by loving daughter Anna Butt, brother Allan (Donna), nieces Michelle (Scott Abernethy and family), Deborah (Eric McNally), nephews Colin and Bryan (Gabriela) Shipway.
He is now reunited with his father Charles Shipway Jr, mother Dorothy Bernice (Wilson), sister Denise (Dee-Dee) and sister Yvonne Doran.
Dalton was a proud advocate of the environment. As a founding member of the Task Force to Bring Back the Don he spent over 3 decades advocating numerous renaturalization efforts along the river including the Chester Springs Marsh.
He organized the Annual Don River Walk.
Dalton started the Riverdale Meadows Community Garden and participated in many community based environmental restoration initiatives.
He will be sadly missed by family, friends, and the environment. The Don Ranger has gone to the Don, beyond. May he rest in peace.
