Obituary of Cynthia Charlene Tanchyk
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Cynthia Tanchyk on Tuesday, June 27, 2024 at her home in Letellier Manitoba.
She is survived by her husband John and their son Christopher; mother Adele; brothers Tom Wall, Tim Wall, and Jeff Wall; her Aunt Sophie; Uncle Rob; and many other aunts, uncles and cousins. and extended family and friends.
Cynthia was born in Winnipeg on March 7, 1959. She was raised in the city with her three siblings. A woman with many talents, she was a graduate of Concordia University with a master’s degree. Her thesis was based on Mennonite quilting in Canada, which was published in the Concordia library. As a teenager Cynthia attended Bruce elementary school in St James and was a graduate with high honors at St Mary’s academy in Winnipeg.
Cynthia had a great love for her pets at home including her special feeling for a joyful Papillion Danjou who never left her side even in the hour of her departure. One of her great achievements was working with horses where she diligently worked hours for preparations of shows and had won numerous awards. as also being a terrific mother and spouse who was devoted in making a fantastic home life as well as balancing a life with her husband John being deployed with the Canadian Navy, and taking care of her son Christopher and diligently tended to her other favorite pastime gardening. She never let her sickness run her, she ran it.
Cynthia a devout catholic, generously shared her time and talents with other communities across Canada with occasions of instructing art to elementary schools in Victoria, B.C. and Halifax, N.S. Cynthia was also the CWL president in Esquimalt Catholic Church for four years, and CWL president in North Bay, always voted in by acclamation. She assisted and setup fall suppers, theater events and charities nights in Nova Scotia, Quebec, and Victoria, B.C. She also taught Sunday school and assisted in military functions and art projects.
Her family always looked forward to cabbage rolls and home made perogies that was made with the grace of angels that could never be reproduced. When she was posted with John across Canada with the military she never complained, was 100 percent organised and was always ahead of the game. She knew what she wanted to achieve and it was best to stay out of her way.
Cynthia’s greatest passion strength for life was ensuring her family’s happiness and other people that she helped. Cynthia always believed that it was quality and not quantity of life. She is a pure joy in nurturing a warm and loving home where everyone felt welcome and cherished. Her resilience, love, generosity and compassion, left a lasting impact on her siblings, spouse, and others who knew and loved her. I have lost my soul mate and angel on earth who now resides in the hands of God. She definitely lived life to the fullest and ill its true meaning.
We would like to thank the Winkler Paramedics, the RCMP in Emerson for their help, assistance and guidance.
Donations can be made to the Manitoba Cancer Society. A mass will be held at the St Joesphs church, in St Joeseph MB July 11 at 11am.
