It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing of our father, Cornelius Adrianus Van Loon, born March 23, 1931, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands. Predeceased by his loving wife, Johanna Mooijekind, (November 2023) and his son Gerald (1968). He will be remembered by his children John (Carol), Mary Way (Barry), Lenny (Elizabeth), Anne Van Loon-Leroux (Richard), Corey (Wendy), Tracy Myers (Holger) and Judy Dancause (Richard).
He will be dearly missed by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his parents, Johannes Van Loon and Anna Broeders); and siblings Denny, John, Andy, Bill, Johanna and Tony. He is survived by his oldest sister, Betty Van Heyst, and youngest brother, Peter; as well as many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended families.
At the age of 16, Cornelius immigrated to Canada with his family in 1947. A Dutch-Canadian farmer, Cornelius learned to work hard at an early age. He met our precious mother Johanna in this country and they were married November 17th, 1956. Shortly after, they settled in Martintown on the family farm to raise their children. Cornelius always said Canada was very good to him with many people contributing to his early success.
Friends and relatives may attend a public visitation at the Munro & Morris Funeral Home Ltd, Alexandria, ON (613-525-2772) on Monday, February 19th from 1pm to 4pm. A private visitation at his home will take place on Monday, February 19th from 7pm until 9pm for immediate family. A public mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday February 20th, 2024 at St. William’s Parish, Martintown at 10:00am. Interment to follow in St. William’s Parish Cemetery, Martintown. A reception will follow at the Martintown Community Centre.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. As a Memorial to Cory, a tree will be planted in a memory woods. A tree grows – memories live. Condolences may be made online at www.munromorris.com.
