Cora Riley Obituary
Cora Riley (nee Dewald), 52 (but if you asked her daughter she would still say the ripe age of 38) passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and friends on April 24th, 2024 in Calgary Alberta.
She was born on November 1st, 1971 to Robert (Bob) and Margaret (June) Dewald in Provost Alberta. Cora married Boris Vrdoljak on July 2nd 2005. Together they raised their beautiful daughter Nikisha, and eventually welcomed their beloved puppy Oakley into their family. Cora was known as a curling superstar amongst her friends and family. There wasn’t a day where she was playing, watching or talking about the sport. She shared the love of curling with her late mom, June.
Cora would be described by her friends and family as a hard working, joke telling, big loving lady who would make friends with just about anyone. As long as you had a smile you’d be her friend by the end of a conversation. Cora was the most adventurous among her group of friends. Life was never dull if you had Cora around. Camping and boating were two of her favourite activities. She frequently visited Kalamalka Lake, BC with her husband and friends, old and new.
In the progression of Cora’s life, she made incredibly cherished friendships with Carrie Pederson, Sonia Heck, Michelle Huculak, Christine Fennell, and Melanie Schroeder who will all miss her tremendously.
Cora is survived and deeply missed by her daughter Nikisha, her husband Boris, her father Bob, her sister Kelly (Randy), her sister Cheryl (Barkley) and brother Cam (Melanie) and nieces and nephews and their families. Cora was predeceased in death by her mother, June.
A private celebration of life for Cora will be held on Tuesday April 30th, 2024 in Czar, Alberta. Interment will be at Czar Lutheran Cemetery.
