Connie was born in Montreal to Joan (Cole) and Edward Mansell on December 11, 1942. She was also raised by her stepfather John (Big Daddy) Mason.
Connie will be remembered as a caring wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and community volunteer. She sat on the board as a commissioner for Camp Caritou Guiding and worked at Canadore College as a liaison officer.
While her daughters were growing up, she was heavily involved in their schools and took pride in their upbringing. Throughout the years, she also volunteered her time with the church and many community organizations.Connie’s creativity was apparent in her artistic abilities. She loved to draw and paint. She enjoyed crafting, knitting, crocheting, and shared many of the items she made with her family and people in need. In her younger years, she enjoyed camping, canoeing, and travelling throughout Canada with her family.
Connie also enjoyed watching many sports. Her love of baseball came from her mom. She was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan and tuned into as many games as she could. She was also passionate about hockey and loved the Montreal Canadiens. Connie was a season ticket holder for the North Bay Battalion, which she often attended with her super-fan granddaughter Bella. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren’s sports & activities.
During her quiet time she loved to do jigsaw puzzles, sudoku, word games and loved to read a good book. Walking into her home one could easily see her collection of frog themed items. She had a natural green thumb and tended to many plants and gardens. She was always willing to share her plants and advice with those around her.
Those close to Connie will also remember her witty sense of humour and her willingness to help others.
Connie is survived by her two daughters Lisa Jones (Lucas), and Sara Kowal (Mike predeceased) and her two adopted children, Michael Hamilton (Marisa) and Bonnie Hamilton (Patrick).
Her sisters, Wendy Wehrli (Ernst) and Gail Mason and her brothers Gordon Mansell (Missy), Ken Mason (Debbie) and Ron Mason.
She will be missed by her 11 grandchildren Mia, Sam, Cayden, Carter, Isabella, Katelyn, Rebecca, Robin, Ryan, Mya and Samuel, her three furry granddogs, as well as many nephews and nieces.
She is predeceased by her husband Gaetan Marcil, parents Joan, Edward and stepfather John “Big Daddy” Mason, son-in-law Michael Kowal and brothers Bruce Mason and Kenneth Mansell. Connie also leaves behind many close groups of friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army or North Bay Regional Health Centre will be gratefully acknowledged by her family or do something nice for someone else in her honour. Online condolences may be made at www.mcguintyfuneralhome.com
