Conrad Anthony Rieger, age 63, passed away peacefully on Sunday December 3, 2023, after a seven-year battle with Cancer. Conrad was born August 24, 1960, in Melville, SK to Anthony (Tony) and Eva (Desrosiers) Rieger from Grayson, SK.
Conrad grew up on the family farm south of Grayson where he developed a life long appreciation of animals and nature. While attending high school in Melville, he met the love of his life, Karen, through mutual friends. In 1978, Conrad graduated from high school and then started his career at SGI in Regina. After many trips back and forth to Yorkton to see Karen, he decided to take a transfer to the Yorkton claims centre. Conrad and Karen married in 1981 and soon after started a family. In 1996, Conrad took a new position with Mitchell International which moved the family to Regina.
Conrad was very ambitious. On top of his full-time career, he always had a part time job, owned several different types of businesses, volunteered with the kid’s sports, coached hockey and ran his own hockey schools. He even told Karen that he missed farming and should go help a farmer harvest in his “spare time”.
Conrad’s career was cut short when he was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2016. Following surgery and treatment, Conrad defied all odds and remained cancer free until it reoccurred in spring of 2023. He still remained optimistic and never gave up hope. He was determined to stay at home as long as possible, which he achieved hours before his very peaceful passing in Palliative Care at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina.
Conrad was predeceased by his parents Anthony (Tony) and Eva Rieger; sister Leona (in infancy); sister and brother- in- law, Marcy, and Garry Temple; in laws Allan and Doreen Mireau; and infant grandson Grayson Rieger.
Conrad is survived by his loving wife, Karen; daughter Amanda Rieger and her son Jesse; son Jordan (Jennifer) Rieger and their children Konnor and Brixton; son Cameron (Cassandra) Rieger and their children Elliahna, Avalynn and Jameson; sister Sandra (Bruce) Nelson; niece Rhonda (Bob) Szautner; nephew Grant Temple and their families; in-laws Peggy Mireau, Mark (Kelly) Mireau, Wayne (Connie) Mireau, Brent (Shannon) Mireau, Kathy (Kevin) Mooney; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank all of Conrad’s doctors, the medical staff, Palliative Home Care staff, and the numerous family, friends, and neighbors for their endless love, support, and help.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Conrad’s memory to the Telemiracle Kinsmen Foundation, 2217C Hanselman Ct., Saskatoon, SK, or to any charitable organization of your choice.
Memorial Service will be held at Resurrection Roman Catholic Parish on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m.
