Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly loved, Connor Butt, on September 26th, 2023, at 1:23 AM while in Western Memorial Regional Hospital. At the age of 14, he showed incredible courage and strength during his 2 1/2 year battle with cancer.
Left to mourn with loving and adoring memories are: his parents Chris and Nadine; and his sister Hope; grandparents: Wayne Butt and Marg Billard, and Gary and Marg Piercey; aunts and uncles: Denise and Tom Hutchings, Kim Butt and Aaron Brothers, Diane and Ian Cavanagh, Corina Drover, Cory and Lieu Piercey and Bronson and Brittini Piercey; his loving cousins: Claire and Kaitlyn Hutchings, Leo Brothers, Lauren, Liam, Quinn Cavanagh, Kennedy and Jorja Drover-Fitchett, Tyson and Kaitlyn Piercey, and Nora and Leaf Piercey; his godparents: Tina and Darryl Barnes and god-sister Faith Barnes; and many great aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Predeceased by: grandmother Ida Butt; grandfather Phillip Drover; and good friend Aiden O’Keefe.
Connor graced us with his presence on June 26th, 2009, and brought nothing but sheer joy into our lives and the lives of all who knew him. Connor cared about people in the purest way. He was a true friend, always wanting the best for his buddies without asking for anything in return. He accepted and loved everyone just as they were.
Connor loved and cherished his family. He considered his sister, Hope, his best friend. He always thought of her first and wanted to make sure she was happy.
A typical teenager, Connor loved hanging out with his friends and playing video games. He was a huge hockey fan and played goalie, his favorite position. His favorite thing to do was playing hockey with his buddies. He also enjoyed playing baseball and being part of a team. Connor loved to play the accordion with his accordion group and we will always cherish those memories.
Sharing his father’s love of airplanes, he had aspired to be a helicopter pilot and, eventually, an astronaut. Although only 14 at the time of his death, Connor positively impacted many people in his short lifetime. Those who had the privilege of knowing Connor, even just a little, have lost a shining light in their lives.
To the many friends, family, and so many others that supported us through this very difficult time, we want to express our gratitude and heartfelt thanks for all of the ways that you have shown your love and support.
Visitation will be held at Russell’s Funeral Home on Saturday, September 30th from 2:00-4:00 PM and 7:00- 9:00 PM.
A funeral service will be held at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, West Street, on Monday, October 2nd at 2:00 PM.
