Connie Sue Burkhart Warren – age 76 of Knoxville passed away comfortably at home on Monday, January 16, 2023, after a long battle with Parkinson’s and Dementia. Connie lived in the Riverdale community for 52 years and attended Riverdale Baptist Church. She was a 1964 graduate of Carter High School. Connie catered hundreds of weddings over the years and was known for her beautiful cakes.
Preceded in death by parents, Clifford and Nina Burkhart; and several family and friends that she was too cheap to list by name because she will see them in Heaven.
She leaves behind husband of 56 years, Herb Warren; daughters, Toni (Daniel) Rule and Keri (Kirk) Broom; grandchildren, Callie Rule and Eli Broom; brother and sister-in-law, Burkey and Susan Burkhart; sister, Becky Coker; in-laws, Paul and Clara Warren and Mike and Judy Lett; and many nieces and nephews that were treated like her own grandchildren. Thank you to the excellent care from Smoky Mountain Hospice, especially Regina and Jamye, and the in-home caregivers, Amy, Sue and Angela. Also, thanks to special friends, Eugenia, Mary, Peggy, Connie, Marilyn, Viv, Debbie, Diane and Gail. If your name is listed above, she would like reimbursement for the cost of your name being listed in this obituary, and she wanted to be sure everyone knew that it was at her request to have the services on a weekday, instead of the weekend, because it would be cheaper.
The family will receive friends 12:00-2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Bridges Funeral Home with the funeral service at 2:00 PM officiated by Rev. Jim Clayton and Pastor Tom Miller. Following the service, there will be a procession to Asbury Cemetery for the interment. Pallbearers: Nick, Clabe, Buck, Josh, Matt, and Jonathan. Honorary pallbearer: Jackson Lane who is serving in the US Army in Germany. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riverdale Baptist Church, 7124 Thorngrove Pike, Knoxville, TN 37914.
