Obituary of Colleen Patricia Zulian (nee Tierney)
Courageously accepted the invitation to live with Our Lord, The Holy Family, and all of the Angels and Saints on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. Reunited with her beloved husband Charlie “Chuckles” (2004). Cherished mother of Ken, Jacqueline (Sebastian), Peter (Christine), Rebecca (Andrew), Patrick, Tony and Olivia. Proud and devoted Grandmum of Frankie, Millie, Charlotte and Dahlia. Predeceased by her parents Frances (2001) and Charles (2013) Tierney. Survived by her aunt Sheila (late Ken). Loving sister of Cathy (Bob), Anne (late Don), Dan and sister-in-law to Henry (Lori). Dear aunt of Kate (Nathan), Matt (Nicole), Shannon, Cat (Rod), Heather, Kelly (Terry), Michael (Thanida), Liam and many great nieces and nephews. She loved to laugh and share good times with her best friend Jenny (David), cousin Barb (Ken) and many other lifelong friends.
Above all, Colleen was most proud of being a mother of seven. She worked tirelessly to ensure her children were always safe, taken care of and well-nourished in body, mind and heart. Colleen lived with a fierce passion for life. She was the epitome of wit, intelligence, strength, loyalty and had a firm grasp on all aspects of the English language *#$! She may have had a few choice words for how she left us so soon but she would want it to be known that she fought strong to the end.
Colleen was a proud Nova Scotian – a Bluenoser – and took every opportunity to dip her toes in her Atlantic Ocean. She loved porch sittin’, was an avid reader and a movie lover. She built strong family traditions – like the Haunted Picnic, Christmas Eve Eve and the Flinging Party – she loved expressing her creativity, was a devout Catholic and she loved to turn up the volume for everything from classical to rock music. Colleen loved experiencing our beautiful country through train travel, was a lifelong learner, was a great communicator and always advocated for the underdog. She was a proud community member and volunteered throughout her life. Colleen was a diehard football fan – Go Lions! Go Irish!
Mom, you were selfless beyond measure and your energy filled the room. You taught us how to navigate this world with class, kindness and love. Thank you, dear mom. Thank you Lord for your gift! She was our biggest fan and cheerleader and we are truly fortunate to have such a strong advocate in Heaven.
A special thank you to the ICU team at Erie Shores HealthCare and the staff of ICU and 4 north at WRH – Met Campus for all their dedicated care and compassion.
Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL FUNERAL HOME – Banwell Chapel, 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E.
