It is with great sadness and much love that we say goodbye to our beloved, Colleen Simms, loving mother, and devoted daughter of 53 years. She was born to loving parents Beryl and Lomond Keefe, and grew up with her two younger brothers Lorne and Brad. She had a strong bond and unconditional love for her nephew and niece, Alex and Catherine. She graduated nursing school in 1994 from Salvation Army Grace General Hospital and spent her 25 year career as a dedicated nurse who will be remembered as a kind and compassionate person for those who she cared for. She has two children, Shane and Emily with her husband of 23 years Gordon Simms (Separated). Her children were her whole world, her heart was filled with so much love for them. She will be dearly missed by her partner, Mervyn Avery, and his family. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and anyone who has ever had the pleasure of knowing her.
Predeceased by her grandparents Jessie and Calvin Hillier, Pearl and Herbert Keefe, her Mother-In-Law Amelia Simms, Aunts Jean Hillier and Beatrice Gear, and Uncles Eugene Keefe, James Keefe, and Roy King.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice in Colleen’s name.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
The family would like to express sincere thanks to Vardy’s Funeral Home for their utmost compassion during this difficult time.
