Obituary of Colin James Dunn
It is with heartfelt sorrow, the family of Colin James Dunn, announce his passing on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born on July 5, 1941, in Gloucester, England, he was a son of the late George and Doreen “Peggy” (Stait) Dunn. Colin was enlisted in the British Army Reserves, the Royal Gloucestershire Hussars for six years, where he was also a member of the military band playing the Euphonium. Colin started his career working for Rolls Royce Aero Engines as an electrical engineer. He emigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1975, to join CAE, then moved to the nuclear industry in Ontario, eventually moving to Saint John, for the commissioning of Point Lepreau Nuclear Power Station. From there he worked on the frigate program with Saint John Ship Building, finishing his career with General dynamics in Calgary, Alberta. Colin enjoyed woodworking and tinkering with old clockes and watches. He was a very social person who loved spending time with his family, hiking and outdoor pursuits. He was a member of the Renforth Lions Club, and sat on the vestry of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Rothersay for a number of years when he lived in New Brunswick.
Survived by his sons; Nicholas Dunn (Raeanne) of Rothesay, and Jeremy Dunn (Meghan) of Langley, BC, and their mother Yvonne Miller of England, brothers; Stephen Dunn of France, and Martin Dunn (David Miguelez) of Spain, grandchildren; Samantha, Kirsten, Parker, Joshua, Molly, and Isabella, a special nephew Tony Bladen, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Besides his parents, Colin was predeceased by his sister Ann Bladen.
In keeping with Colin’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Funeral Service will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Rothesay, on Friday April 14, 2023 at 1 PM. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (506-849-2119). For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed at www.stpaulsonthecommon..com Donations in memory of Colin can be made to the Cancer Research Society.
