Please join us in celebrating the life of Colette Laird, who passed away in her 93rd year on May 7, 2024 in Guelph.
But for her final year, Colette was a lifelong resident of North Bay. Predeceased in 2003 by her husband Bill, a former officer with the North Bay Police Service, she was a mother of five and raised her family on Lakeside Dr where they lived for over 40 years. She was also predeceased by her five brothers. Colette was a woman of unwavering faith, a tireless volunteer in the community and a generous supporter of numerous charities.
Colette was resilient in the face of adversity and, in her early 60s, survived a cancer diagnosis and thereafter found new friends and support in a local survivors group. After selling the family home and shortly before Bill passed away, they moved into an apartment at St Joseph’s on the Lake where she would reside for more than 20 years, fostering further close friendships with other residents and with a number of the Sisters of St. Joseph in the adjacent Motherhouse, where she loved to attend mass and social events.
The family is welcoming guests on Saturday, June 22 at McGuinty’s Funeral Home, 591 Cassells St, North Bay. A service of remembrance will be held at 2pm, followed by a reception with light refreshments until 4pm.
