With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Clifford Ralph Swansburg, 80, of Deep Brook. He passed away peacefully at home after a battle with pneumonia. Cliff was born April 22, 1944 to the late Wesley and Louise (Harding) Swansburg of Little Harbour.
Cliff was always a hard worker and as a teenager he spent two summers working on George’s Island as a lighthouse keeper’s assistant. He had a number of different jobs including running his own garage. He spent many years as a public servant, mostly at Cornwallis, until its closure in 1995. Even after retiring he stayed busy, keeping his property and vehicles in top shape and finding good deals on cars for his friends. He loved fishing, especially with his grandchildren whenever he got a chance. He also loved going to stock car races.
Cliff is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Cindy (Milbury) Swansburg; his fur baby and companion Sophie; three daughters that he adored, Alana Eaton (Doug) Edmonton AB; Carla Swanburg (Shane) Porters Lake NS; Patti Rhodenizer (Wade) Chester NS; and the mother of his children, Janet Swansburg. He had six grandchildren he was always proud of: Zach Eaton (Hailey), Nick Eaton (Terri), Jake Rhondenizer (Jenna), Alex Rhodenizer (Camilla) and Emma & Maggie Lamont; two special great grandchildren Mae Eaton (and her little sister on the way) and Jalen Rhodenizer; two loving sisters, Elaine Hupman (Bernard) and Rita Buchanan; his loving Aunt Ruth Huskilson; father and mother-in-law, David and Lorena Milbury; sister-in-law, Kim Cummins (Tom); and brother-in-law, Reid Milbury (Kim), along with several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents Cliff is predeceased by brother-in-law Leon Buchanan.
The family will be holding a private burial, with a celebration of life to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can made to the Lung Association or to the Lake Doucette Motor Speedway, Hectanooga.
