Claudette Marie
Shannon – 78, of Truro Heights passed away on Friday,
November 29, 2024 at Colchester East Hants Health Centre. Born in 1946
in Moncton, New Brunswick, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and
Adele LeBlanc (Cassie) Hynes.
In her early years,
Claudette worked at the Sobey’s Lunch Counter as well as
Welford Drugs in Saint John, New Brunswick. She was a stay at home mom
and house wife and during that time she looked after many small
children to help supplement the family income. Claudette lived in many
places including London, Ontario, Moncton, St. Martins, Saint John,
Musquash, Dartmouth and finally Truro, where she lived most of their
life.
Claudette is survived
by her husband and the love of her life, Gerald Shannon, who she
married March 8, 1962; children, Gerald «Gerry» Shannon
(Rachel MacFarland), Anne Marie (Kevin) Grant, Philip Shannon, Darren
Shannon (Jessie Owen); sister, Joann Belleveau; foster sister,
Patricia «Patti» Bouchier; brother-in-law, Arthur Murray;
grandchildren, Amanda, Brenden, Kara, Sarah, Craig, Kolisha,
Nathaniel; step-granddaughter, Aimey; 11 great grandchildren; several
nieces and nephews; loving cat, Shadow; also the mothers of a few
grandchildren, Cathy Shannon and Ann McMillan who hold a special place
in Claudette’s heart.
She was predeceased by
her siblings, Jeanette Wilson, Geneva Murray, Loretta Boyle, Patricia
«Patsy» Mah (Orvil Martin), Alexander «Sandy»
LeBlanc, Ronald «Ronnie» LeBlanc.
The family would like
to extend a special thank you to the Continuing Care Program and to
all the special girls who came into our home for the last few years to
help with Claudette’s many daily needs.
Funeral mass will be
held at a later date, details will follow. If so desired,
donations to Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation
are welcomed.
Arrangements have been
entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young
