Lalonde, Claude (1956-2023)
It is with profound sorrow that the family announces the sudden passing of Claude Lalonde on Monday February 6th 2023, at the age of 66 years. Loving husband of 39 years to Denise Lalonde (née Rodrigue). Beloved son of the late Guy Lalonde and of the late Yvette Lalonde (née Prud’Homme). Dear father of Mélanie (Henry), Isabelle, Vivianne and loving stepfather of Sylvie (Michael). Survived by his sisters, Dianne (Daniel) and Suzanne (Yves). Claude will forever be missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Elexus, Sarah, Hailey, Lucas and by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Claude held many titles in his life, but his favourite role was being a father. He loved nothing more than spending time with his children. He was always there for them, whether he was helping them fix their vehicles, building them furniture or teaching them new things. Claude was happiest when he was fixing something, he always had a project on the go. He was a jack of all trades. He will be remembered for his quick wit and work ethic. He had a love for fishing and hunting and spent most of his life doing outdoor activities. He raced skidoos and had a love for cars. Claude was adventurous and loved spending time with his family, whom he was very proud of.
He started working at a young age, working many different jobs. He was always the first person to take any opportunity to learn something new. He worked as a diamond driller in Africa and set a world record with the rest of his team in 1986. He went on to get his trucking license here in Canada where he spent many years working with Manitoulin and went on to become an owner/operator. Both accomplishments that he was very proud of.
He retired in 2021 after working 26 years with the company. He enjoyed camping with his wife and building things for others, he continued to work around the house and cottage until his passing.
He also leaves behind his Turcotte Bay family/friends whom he cared for deeply. The family would like to extend a thank you to the amazing staff in the ICU department at Health Sciences North, a special thank you to the nurses, Priscilla, Natalie and Amanda for their excellent care and compassion. The family would also like to thank the paramedics and Dr.Sauvé, Dr.Mireau and Dr.Woolridge.
At Claude’s request there will be no visitation with direct cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations to Sick Kids Foundation would be appreciated, a foundation he held close to his heart. Cremation services provided by Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury.
