Clarke passed peacefully at home on August 31, 2023 at age 94. He was the beloved and loving husband of Janet (Aiken) for 44 years. Loved and respected father of Michael (Linda) and Gary (Heidi) and the much loved wonderful stepfather of Sandra Gillen (Liam) and Melissa Burgoyne (Steve Presgrave). Grandfather to Peter, Julie, Ben, Kristy, Evan and Rachel. He was the uncle of Doug and Brian Weddel and Heather Walker, and a great Grandfather of 5. He was pre-deceased by his 5 siblings.
Clarke was born at the family farm in Sharon Ontario. He attended Queensville P.S. and Newmarket H.S. His career was as a manager and salesman in the farm supply business for 50 years. Upon retiring he took up the hobby of designing and building beautiful large cedar bird feeders. A stroke in 2018 forced him to give up his hobby but he was still able to golf and garden. Clarke was an active member of the Caledon Lions Club and was President twice and treasurer for 10 years, initiating several of the club’s fundraising events. Janet and Clarke enjoyed many trips and golf outings together. He especially enjoyed his golf holidays with his boys. He will be forever remembered, loved, and missed.
A private family gathering will be held following cremation and burial will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Orangeville. Donations in his memory may be made to Headwaters Health Care Foundation, 100 Rolling Hills Dr. Orangeville ON L9W 4X9
