Clarence Smith Obituary
The family of the late Clarence Smith announces the passing of a precious husband, very dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Clarence passed away quietly and peacefully at 9:50 p.m. May 31 at the GFW Long Term Care facility in Grand Falls-Windsor with his daughters Donna and Gwen at his side.
Clarence was predeceased by his father and mother, Abram and Jane/Clara Smith. Also by brothers Eldred (Annette), Ivan (Margaret), Andrew (Betty); sisters: Shirley Owens (Bill, d.), Lillian Pjergso (Henry, d.), Elizabeth Feaver (Gerald, d.); and daughter Creina Smith.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife Effie at the GFW Long Term Care facility; sons: Roy (Diane), ON, Rex (Donna), MB, Dwayne (Stephanie), Washington state; daughters: Gwen Robinson (Wallace), Loon Bay, NL; Donna Barnes (Roland), Point of Bay, NL; Lorna Cole (Roy), Point of Bay, NL; Mechelle Mosher (David), Chester, NS; brothers: Reggie (Rosie); Rick (Debbie); sisters: Clara Danis (Tony, d.), Myrtle Wilkins (Wally, d.), Evelyn Fox, (Robert, d.); also 17 grand children, a number of great-grand children and great-great grandchildren.
Clarence and Effie celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary on April 19, 2024.
Clarence and Effie lived at the Golden Years Estates for 10 years, where they made many new friends and had a happy retirement thanks to the wonderful staff. They later moved to the GFW Long Term Care facility. We, the family, express a heart full of gratefulness and thanks to the staff for their attentive and loving care of both mom and dad. Dad was called «Pop» by the workers and he was much loved and respected by each and every worker. The staff are exceptional!
