Clarence
«Klaas» Van Meekeren – age 80, of
Centreville, Kings County, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday,
September 21, 2024. Born in Rinsumageest, The Netherlands, he was the
son of the late Fred Sr. and Jean (Van Hijum) Van
Meekeren.

Klaas’ family emigrated from
Holland in 1951 and settled in Manitoba before moving to Nova Scotia
in 1962. Klaas farmed all his life, except for a short period working
as a mechanic.
He is
survived by his wife, Linda; son, Patrick; brother, Fred; stepsons,
Steven and Raymond; grandchildren, Rosalyn and Ryan. In addition to
his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Alice Vandertuin and
Etta Bekkering; brothers, Martin and Frank; stepdaughter, Nancy; and
first wife, Sheila.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to
8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25 in the White Family Funeral Home,
Kentville, where the funeral service (with a livestream available)
will also be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2024.
Reverend Martin Dendekker officiating. Interment will follow in
Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville.
The
family are deeply grateful for the care provided by the nursing staff
of the Soldier’s Memorial Hospital, Middleton, for the
weekly blood transfusions, and to the Palliative Care team and the
staff and volunteers of the Valley Hospice,
Kentville.
In lieu
of flowers, donations in memory may be made to Covenanters ARP Church
building fund, the VON or the Valley Regional Hospital Foundation.
