Clarence Joseph Newman Obituary
It is with gut wrenching sorrow and broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved family Patriarch – Husband, Father, Poppy, Brother, and Friend. Predeceased by his parents Jack and Maude Newman; brothers Frank (Nellie), Joe (Pat), Don (Doreen) and Cyril; and his beloved baby sister Mary Agnes (Robert).
Leaving behind to mourn his forever devoted and eternally loving wife Anne-Marie of 49 years; daughter Amy (Trevor), son Keith (Blaire) and the absolute joys of his life, his three treasured precious granddaughters Drea, Avery and Cece. Whom he adored more than words could ever express, remember always girls “Poppy’s the Boss”. His amazing sisters, whom cherished and devoted themselves to their brother, Patricia Harris (Bill), Mabel Tobin (Gerald), Margaret Pike (Jim) and his baby brother Paul (Karin) who he adored and nurtured more like a son, then a brother. His many beloved in-laws, in particular the unwavering devotion of his brother-in-laws Bob and Phil and spouses Lynn and Cyd Whelan, may the games of scat continue in his honor for many years to come. Beloved nieces and nephews, whom he cherished getting calls from to help with building and permit issues, you all made Uncle Clar beam with pride and it was his absolute honor to be turned to for his advice and expertise. With a special thanks to his adopted Dutch family, Becca, Wies, and Toos deNijs.
The imprint of Clar will live on forever throughout his beloved chosen home of Mount Pearl (of 50 Years), through his decades of volunteerism and coaching of the Mount Pearl Blades from its beginning iteration to its current progress. You will be hard pressed to drive through St. John’s and not view the many subdivisions/homes he developed and built across this town. From his tough guy exterior act to his wide-open heart, he made an undeniable imprint on this city, the hearts of everyone he met and this world. His constant ability to put others first always is an example to all how to navigate this life. While our hearts are broken, may there be comfort in knowing that someone so special will never be forgotten.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl on Tuesday, December 17th, 2024 from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.- 9 p.m. Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, December 18th, 2024 at 11 a.m. from Barrett’s Mount Pearl Chapel.
A special sincere heartfelt thank you to the most caring nurses and staff at 4 South B. Your care may go unnoticed by many but not by us, the Newman’s, we noticed and thank you. You are true angels on earth, we can not express adequately how special you all truly are.
