It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Clare Douglas Richardson, on Friday February 17, 2023, at The Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton. Clare was 87. He was the middle child for his parents Ella and Stuart Richardson of Burlington Ontario. He was a brother to Neil (deceased), Robert, and Glenn, and Sharyn (Currie). In 1959, he met and married his soulmate, Geraldine (Gerry) Richardson (née Lonnee). They raised four beautiful children, Doug (Cory), Greg (Trese), Tom (Amber), and Kim (deceased) (Bill Hunt). Clare and Gerry have 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, whom of which they cared for dearly. They lived in Millgrove, Burlington and upon retirement in Sauble Beach. In 1955, he joined the RCMP as a Constable working in Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, and the Yukon Territories. In 1958, he returned home and joined the Burlington Police Department, now known as Halton Regional Police Department. After 32 years of proud service, he retired with the rank of Staff Sergeant, in charge of Communications. In his lifetime he held many roles within the community that shaped him into the kind soul he was, some of which being: Sea Cadet, Cub Scout Leader (3rd Waterdown), baseball coach, football official (LFOA), choir singer, square dancer, school bus driver, Lions Club member, poet, and most importantly, friend. According to Dad his most important role was a dedicated husband, loving and supportive father, proud grandfather and caring great-grandfather. We, as a family, are extremely thankful for the many memories we have had the privilege of making. His affectionate smile, apple cheeks, blue eyes and friendly voice welcomed people into his life. He will be remembered for his kind heart and good natured attitude. Many thanks to those who helped care for him and our Mom in their later years, especially the staff at The Wellington LTC in Hamilton and staff at Juravinski Hospital. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place with a private family interment. In his honor a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Please give any donations made in his honor to the charity of your choice.
