On April 3rd, 2023 Mom slipped away from us peacefully, after a long and full life. She will be missed by her son Tim Jr. and daughter Joanne. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Natasha and Gabriel, and one great grandchild, Max. She was predeceased by her husband Rhodes Bethune (Tim) Evans.
Claire was born and grew up in Montreal West. She attended Trafalgar School for Girls and later McGill University, enrolling in the Arts faculty. She was very musical and studied classical piano, completing the Royal Conservatory program. In later years she enjoyed playing the organ in church.
Claire and Tim married on June 23rd, 1953 at Montreal West Presbyterian Church. The family lived for many years on the West Island of Montreal in both Point Claire and Beaconsfield. Claire was a terrific mother, homemaker and a great cook. She was always there for her kids. She enjoyed sailing with husband Tim and loved a good tennis match.
Claire and Tim lived in Oakville Ontario for a number of years before making the decision to move out West after Tim retired. Active in the Anglican Church, Claire often volunteered her time at the Christ Church Cathedral in Victoria. Claire was a very social person, and she and Tim maintained many of their old friendships from the East after their retirement move westward.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 24th, 2023, 2:30 pm, at Christ Church Cathedral, 930 Burdett Avenue, in Victoria, BC.
