Cirillo Genaro Prior Obituary
Husband, father, nonno and bisnonno, Cirillo Prior, went peacefully into God’s gracious arms on
Monday, April 22, 2024. After several years of battling Alzheimer’s Disease his precious body
said, “it’s ok my family, it’s time to let me go”.
Hailing from Tiezzo, Italy, he came to Canada in 1952, like so many Italians before him, and
made his life and success in Toronto and later retiring near the cliffs of the escarpment in
Milton, Ontario.
What comes to mind when you think of Cirillo? His love of opera and Italian folk songs were his
passion. His booming voice could be heard when he was singing in the choir, watching tv or in
the garden with his favourites – Beniamo Gigli or Luciano Pavarotti. They followed him
wherever he went. He didn’t care who was listening!
He loved to travel with his friends and family to far off places in the world and enjoyed every
moment. However, his greatest passion was family. He looked forward to Sundays when the
family gathered to enjoy mamma’s Lasagna, good wine and great conversation. We spent
every New Year’s Eve together so we can celebrate his birthday at midnight.
His greatest regret is not having an education. He loved to read the newspaper and comment
on the state of the world – which would always result in an animated conversation. He was
politically minded and let you know it.
He leaves behind in this world to carry on without him his beloved wife of 70 years, Dina,
his daughters, Sue Chiarot (Renato), Flavia Prior (Don Given) and his grandsons,
John Paul Chiarot (Charlyn Irvine), Adam Chiarot and his precious great granddaughters
Breda and Lyla Chiarot.
You have left your mark our dearest Papa. Now go in peace to your family and your beloved
son, who are waiting with open arms.
The Visitation will be held at the McKersie & Early Funeral Home, 114 Main St. E. Milton, ON
905-878-4452, on Tues. April 30th from 11:00am to 1:00pm with the Funeral Service
in the Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00pm. Private Cremation will follow the service and guests are
invited to join the family in the Upper Lounge for a Reception, for a time of reflection and fellowship.
