O’BRIEN, CHRISTINE ‘Chris’ (Gillissie)
Peacefully on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 Chris O’Brien (Gillissie) at the age of 91. Loving mother to Danny (Tammy), Terry, Billy (Bonnie), Anne-Marie (Heath), and Heather (Monty). She was a very proud grandmother, great-grandmother and recently great-great-grandmother. Predeceased by John O’Brien and her parents Charles and Catherine Gillissie. Sister of Mary, Jim, Frankie, Ron, Mike and the late Tom, Theresa, Eleanor, and Cathie.
Chris had a gift for forging deep and lasting relationships and loved nothing more than to call people on the telephone and catch up on what was happening in their lives. She continued to make new friends throughout her life while staying close with family, school friends, and previous neighbours. You could call her at any time day or night and she would always make time for a conversation. She loved nothing more than to laugh and had a very dry wit much like her mother. She was always kind and she had a sparkle that drew people to her.
She considered her most important role to be that of a devoted mother and grandmother to her family. Her love and humour will carry on in our hearts.
The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at Perley Health for their care, support, kindness and love towards our mother. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Daley Family Funeral Home, 6971 Bank Street, Metcalfe from 6-8 pm on Friday January 3 and from 10-10:45 am on Saturday January 4. A Memorial Service will follow in the Chapel at 11 am. A reception will follow at Osgoode Legion, 3284 Sunstrum St, Osgoode ON K0A2W0. Attendees are invited to wear bright colours in honour of Chris. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Perley Health would be appreciated by the family. Condolences may be left at www.daleyffh.ca
