Obituary
After a brief illness, with sadness we announce the passing of Sarah Christina Collins (nee Fretz). Born March 16, 1933 in Jordan Station, Ontario, to Irvine and Tina Fretz. The second of nine children, she was raised on a farm, where, even during the depression, food and work were not scarce. She met her husband at church, which set the stage for life as a pastor’s wife for 40 years. In 1967, they moved to Oxford, NS, with four young children. She was predeceased by her husband, Bert, in 2017. She is survived by her children, Sue (Norm) Fortune, Carolyn Bragg, Mark (Ruth), Larry (Beth); grandchildren, Mark, Chad, Heidi, Kari (Klaus), Christopher (LeeAnn), Jamie, Mike (Akeesha), Jeffery, Cameron (Meaghan), Sarah (Davis), Nathan (Kirstin), Bethany, Liam (Lisa); great-grandchildren, Jordana, Cody, Griffin, Ashton, Gage, Isaiah, Jayla, Charlotte, Oliver, Lilly, Avah, Hudson, Max, Harper, Jack; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by siblings, MaryAnn (Jim) Smith, Glenn (Shirley) Fretz, Don Fretz. Predeceased by brothers, Murray Fretz, Harvey Fretz, Doug Fretz, Art Fretz and sister, Jean Fretz. Her faith was her hope and strength which saw her through both the good and the difficult times. She loved her family and all the families in the churches where they pastored. She was very active in various church ministries in Ontario, Nova Scotia and PEI. She was still doing Bible studies for her little group of ladies right to the end. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 19 in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home & Crematorium. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 20 in Church of the Nazarene, Oxford. Donations may be made to Big Lake Camp.
