Christina Mathie Kerr Miller
The family of Chris Miller is saddened to announce her passing at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Center on December 14th, 2023.
She is survived by her husband, Don Miller, and three children, Sean (Kris), Shannon (Wayne), and Shasta (Frank). She also leaves six grandchildren who were the light of her life. (Mathey, Anna, Stewart, Cameron, Nolan and Rya). She also had a special bond with her nephew Kyle Mickelson. Predeceased by her mother, Nena, her father, Thomas, sister, Caroline and nephew, Brent.
Chris was born on April 7th, 1947 in Gourock Scotland and moved to Canada with her family in 1952.
Chris had the kindest heart and would help anyone who required it. She was an amazing mother and grandmother who was very involved with her children and grandchildren and in her community through volunteering. She spent years helping with brownies/girl guides, delivering meals on wheels for 19 years, helping kids and being recognized from George Jeffries with a 100 hours volunteer pin and continued to help with Grace Place and the St Thomas Family Giving Center.
Her accomplishments professionally were as a child care /personal support worker with George Jeffries Children treatment center as well as a Secretary for the Lakehead Board of Education.
She enjoyed travelling around the world throughout her years especially with her husband by her side. Don and Chris had been together for 62 years, first as high school sweethearts, and had been married for 56. They had a fairytale marriage and enjoyed spending time together.
A special thanks to the Thunder Bay Police, Fire Rescue, and Paramedics for their initial response and care. We are forever grateful to the nurses and doctors of the ICU for the many miracles that they performed in allowing the family the chance to say goodbye and to have comfort in knowing that Chris was ready to go and meet her Lord.
As a strong Christian, she was a long standing and active member in the church. She always loved to share her message of love with her family and friends.
Funeral Services for Chris will take place Friday, December 22, 11:00 am at St Thomas Anglican Church,1400 Edward St South.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to TBRHSC or St. Thomas Family Giving Center.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 575 Central Avenue, Thunder Bay.
