It is with heavy hearts and much sadness that we announce the passing of our strong and beautiful sister, Cheryl, on Saturday, December 31, 2022, in Burlington. Cheryl was predeceased by her parents, John Joseph “Jack” O’Neil and Rose Ann O’Neil (nee; Petti). She leaves behind brothers Gary James (Ruth) and John Anthony (Joanne) with nieces and nephew (Alanna, Grant and Eden) and great-nephew (Oliver).
A stubborn force to be reckoned with, Cheryl had very strong values and did everything with honesty and integrity. Unafraid to speak her mind, Cheryl said what she meant and meant what she said. She was resilient in the face of adversity and a person who provided exemplary effort. Cheryl was a dedicated employee of the Canada Revenue Agency. In retirement, Cheryl enjoyed getting her hands dirty in her garden, cheering on her favourite football teams, reading and fine tuning her home. Cheryl will be remembered for her intellect, strong will, grace, style and elegance.
A special thank you to the loving care provided by the 5th floor south surgical ward, medical and nursing staff of Joseph Brant Hospital. In keeping with Cheryl’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private gathering will be planned at a later date. If desired, in lieu of flowers, those who wish to mark Cheryl’s memory can do so by making a donation to The Canadian Cancer Society.
