The family of Oscar Charles Kampfmann is very saddened to announce his passing on January 9, 2024 in Orillia, ON at The Soldiers Memorial Hospital. Charlie was 76 years old.
Charlie was born on November 20, 1947 in Hungary, and immigrated to Canada as a child with his parents.
He is pre-deceased by his mother and father and his two children Patricia Ann Bannatyne and Oscar Charles Kampfmann J.R. Charlie is survived by his wife Merie Rita Anderson and daughter Rose Mary Bannatyne and step son Roman.
Charlie had 9 grandchildren (3 step grandchildren) and 11 great grandchildren that he loved very much.
He often would come up to take care of his grandchildren when they were little so his daughter’s could have free time. Charlie was a business man and self employed. He loved to gamble, dance,and loved his chicken fried rice with chicken balls. He also loved his sausages with rye bread and mustard sprinkled with cayenne pepper, his favourite food. He spoke his truth and lived his life his way. He would often say» I did what I did and I had fun» his character was unique and he was one of a kind.
Charlie and Merie were together for 40 years. Charlie was the love of Merie’s life and they had a son together named Erol. In their younger years they worked together and had many fun,wonderful, memorable times.
Many memorable times for family and friends were spent up in Rama First Nation’s on the property of Merie by the camp fire during the summers.
Many joyful memories that he shared with his daughter Rose ( Roska Polska) with the drives back and forth from Toronto up to Meri’s property in Rama over the last 5 years. The conversations and stories he would talk about were funny and will always be remembered, cherished and passed on.
He often shared that he missed his daughter Pat and son Oscar. Charlie knowing that his last living child was there for him made him happy. His daughter Rose supported him and was by his side till the end. Daddy’s words, “if you don’t have the love of your family, you don’t have anything”.
Charlie will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
