July 27, 1936 – January 3, 2024
It is with great sadness the family announce that Charlie passed peacefully away on January 3rd 2024, at the James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre with his family by his side.
Charlie was born in Goose Cove Trinity Bay and is Predeceased by his parents Ernest Hunt and Louise (Barnes), sister Eunice (Jestican), and brother Eric.
Leaving to cherish his many great memories are his loving wife of 63 years Ruth (Taylor), daughter Michelle (Paul Ryles), sons David (Lauraine) and Todd (Tammy). Grandchildren Andrew, Ben and Paige and great grandson Jaxson. Charlie will also be missed by the many members of his extended family and friends.
Charlie will be remembered for his great sense of humour, his kind heart and willingness to help whomever and whenever he was needed. He was a long-time member of St. Martin’s Cathedral where he was very active in lay ministries.
Family will be receiving friends at Stacey’s Funeral Home, Gander, Saturday January 6th 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm. A service to celebrate his life will take place at St. Martin’s Cathedral on January 7th 2024 at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers Donations in Charlie’s memory can be made to St. Martin’s Cathedral Memorial Fund, 2 Lindbergh Rd Gander NL A1V 1K9
Special thanks to the nursing staff at James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre who cared for Charlie and supported the family during his final days.
