Masters, Alfred,
Antigonish. It is with great sadness that we
announce the passing of Alfred «Al» Masters, age 81, on
November 28, 2024 at the Victoria General Hospital in
Halifax,
Al was born to
Eva and Charles Masters in L’Ardoise, Richmond
County.
He worked for
Maritime Tel &Tel for thirty years retiring in
Antigonish. Al was an active member in his church and
community and a loving husband to his wife Rosemarie for fifty-nine
years. He was a member of St. Ninian’s
Knights of Columbus #1105 where he was once served as Grand Knight and
Faithful Navigator. In the winter months he enjoyed curling
at St. Andrews Curling Club where he skipped many teams over the
years. In summer, the Antigonish Golf and County Club was
his favorite stop. This past summer he scored his fourth
«hole in one» and won the «super senior» golf
tournament.
Besides his
wife, Rosemarie, he will be deeply missed by his children Anne Marie
(Tim) and her children Erin and Jenna; Stephen (Juanita) and their
children Brandon, Megan (Lucas) and Hanna (fiancé Ryan) as
well as great grandchildren: Jaxin, Noah, Ben, Oliver and one precious
little girl Harper. He is also survived by sister, Mary
(late Peter) Fougere, sisters in law, Rita May Sampson and Linda
Masters.
He was
predeceased by brothers, Harry and Wayne.
Visitation
will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on
Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be in
St. Ninian Cathedral on Wednesday at 2:00pm with Reverend Danny
MacLennan presiding. Interment in St. Ninian
Columbarium.
